been awol…

hellooooo!!!

sorry i’ve been awol… it all started with another change in medication.  my new (& awesome) pain management specialist, Dr. Ky ( http://www.mypainexperts.com/ ), wanted to give me something longer-acting than Dilaudid, so he prescribed Methadone for me.  now, Methadone has a bad reputation due to the fact that drug addicts take this during recovery, to gradually rid them of their reliance on heroin (specifically) and other opiates.  HOWEVER, it is MORE commonly used in treating patients that suffer from chronic pain and cancer patients.  within 12 hours of taking my first two doses i was high (embarrassing, sorry, but it’s the truth), i was PAAAAAALE, and i was vomiting in my cubicle.  thanks to G-d that danny works on the same floor as me and that my bosses know what’s going on with me, because i was a horrible mess.  danny took me home and called Dr. Ky- he asked that I come in right away- and proceeded to take me off of the methadone, due to my adverse affects, and recommended some nerve blocks.

let me back-track a little bit and give you some more background, not because i want to talk about myself, but because i want YOU to become aware of what physicians you are choosing & who you are being treated by.  we need to become SMART PATIENTS; not in the sense that we are now going to give our physicians directives, but having learned enough about our health that we can identify bad recommendations from a doctor or pinpoint “idiot doctors” (as dr ky refers to them).  during my first visit with dr ky, he gave me all of his background and also told me what he expected from me, as a patient.  during his examination of my abdomen/pelvic area, he continually referred back to a scar that is “out of place”- it is “out of place” because it is not in line with my hysterectomy scars (i don’t think i’m explaining this well).  i informed him that it was done by a general surgeon in modesto who supposedly cut my inguinal nerves, as well as a couple of others, in order to numb my main area of pain.  his immediate response was, “that is what we call idiot doctors”.  the general surgeon did not need to cut my abdomen open in order to accomplish the snipping of the nerves; he could have simply done a laparoscopic surgery.  It seems that the surgeon who performed work on my nerves was not up-to-date (AT ALL) with any of the treatments/procedures that are much less invasive AND more effective, than what he did.   that particular surgery site, from the nerve-snipping procedure done several years ago, remains a problematic area for me to this day.  and, if i may be a little selfish here, it also looks horrible!  He mangled the lower left side of my abdomen.

so, i’m going in to see dr ky today for a nerve procedure: a nerve block using some long needles and my spine??  i’ll let you know about it tomorrow….

next week i see dr felton for my first (of six) bio-feedback therapy sessions.  this can even help with my anxiety, if it work!

i haven’t given up that i have to spend the rest of my days in pain!  not completely given up, at least.  i know that the L-rd has a reason for it and a plan for me… part of that mission is to provide information to others with the same problems.  i hope i can be of some help.

    • AMIN! asa este!! Tatal nostru ne cunoaste bine. :) ce bine este sa avem un Tata care ne iubeste si ne poarta de grija!!
Multumesc pentru comment, Cella! Domnul cu tine!!

  2. Debby Dear
To become SMART PATIENTS we need to educate ourself very much ,and to go to Doctor apointment with a written paper -our homework done and not less, in a defensive mood ,and even ready for fight =debate. Information=education =is the name of the game!!
I have a large experience like a pacient ,but with the mind of RN.and I cannot afford to go to doctor unprepared .The cost is too high, even having a good insurance!!.
3 weeks ago I had to do the homework for my husband and I was appaled and perplexed reading some side effects, decovered even after the trial period was finished.
I stop 2 kinds of medicine given to my husband by a ,,Kind Doctor” ,and my husband in few days recovered from awful simptoms .I hope that he learn the lesson, once more
.I simpatize with you like a mother, like a nurse and like a patient, victim of so many mistaches of doctors !
May God Bless You with His Mercy and Grace in this time and you are in my prayers!

P.S.I do not like the story of sufferings, but Ilike you, being a smart girl! .

    • thank you so much for your comment and your encouragement, Sora Virginia!! :) you are so right about being “ready to fight=debate, information=education, =game!!”
it is true that sometimes these physicians simply prescribe a ton of medication and you become even more ill from the side-effects.
i pray that your husband will feel better and that G-d will provide you both the strength to remain in His Word. i found that there are two main “medications” that help me when taken on a regular basis (not just for aiding the sick, but throughout our journey in life): medication #1. prayer! medication #2. time in the L-rd’s Word. with these two prescriptions, we can remain Faithful even through “the valley of the shadow of death”.
thank you again!! Domnul sa va binecuvinteze!!

      • JAMES 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing……. .

      • Dear,Deby
Because the suffering was my best friend , I pretend that I understand you but this verse take me out few weeks ago from a big mess =suffering .Because I understand the Divine Order
JOY IN SUFFERING=TRIALS NOT FOR SUFFERING =TESTING THE FAITH
        PATIENCE
        PERFECT WORK
        PERFECT AND COMPLETE
        LAKING NOTHING
And the beauty of this is in vers 5 just in case, we do not get the REAL SPIRITUAL ORDER :
James 1 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Now thanks be unto G-d, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 2:14.
